It's not that I procrastinate, but I don't think I prioritize well. I think, "Well, yes, I need to do *that*, but it's not as fun and I have three whole days before it needs to be done, and *this* is super awesome and I want to do it now." So, before I know it, I end up making a bridal shower gift on the way to a bridal shower. It's a good thing that 1) I wasn't driving and 2) it was an hour drive.
I saw something like these boy and girl map people floating around on the internet, and they were very easy to whip up. Easier if you've got a flat surface like a table instead of your lap. But, as you can see, a lap works. The hardest thing is to find a decent boy and girl silhouette, like on public bathroom doors. For some reason, the internet seems to have a dearth of these bathroom silhouette people. After cutting the silhouettes out, lay them on a map of where the future husband and wife grew up, trace lightly, cut out, then mod podge down so that they're holding hands. I used a thrifted frame, so this project cost me less than a buck. Just some grief for my husband, who thinks I am silly for crafting in the car.
The future bride raved about them, btw. So a good use of my car time, I think. :)
Ok, that is last minute but I bet they loved it.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I do that far too often. I love giving a personalized gift that didn't cost much along with a "real" gift, and it's always been greatly appreciated. But maybe they're just humoring me. :)
