Orange you glad Fox Shirt

Has anyone else had a weird transition from working full-time in a business setting to staying at home full-time with kids?  It's not any of the stereotypical things, it's the wardrobe weirdness.

I worked as a teacher, so my everyday clothes were fairly dressy.  But now that I'm staying at home with my son, 17 months later, I still haven't figured out what my wardrobe is supposed to be.  I live on a farm in the country, so it's not like anyone but the immediate family sees me on any given day, but I still haven't figured out what I'm supposed to be wearing.

Ideally, I'd wear jeans and a t-shirt every day of my life, but all my college tees are getting a bit raggedy by now, plus they don't scream style.  So I'm starting on an endeavor to make myself some kinda-cool t-shirts.

The Iron Craft challenge this week was Orange you glad, so why not a nice orange fox?  After using a freezer paper stencil to do the silhouette, I added some color details.  Then I made the mistake (?) of dying it with Rit dye.

I do not have good luck with Rit dye, and this is no exception.  On the plus side, I got the box on sale for a dollar.  However, I wouldn't exactly call that cocoa brown.

However, I'm a lot happier with my fox shirt and its patchy dye job than I thought I might be.  Is there such a thing as hipster mom clothes?  Maybe. . .

  1. It is weird going from working to staying at home. I have these go-to sweatshirts I end up putting on all the time. I figure if I'm getting out of my pjs that's a good start.

I would have never guessed you dyed the shirt. I thought that was the way it came.

    1. Yeah, in the early months, I felt dressed up with yoga pants, but I think I've progressed past that stage. For a while, at least. . .

There are some odd splotches around the front neck--the most visible place, of course. I don't know why Rit and I can't be friends!
